NavVis IVION processing alternative
A genuine alternative to NavVis IVION processing: 360GEO turns your VLX, MLX and CLX scans into open, measurable geodata in GEORIZON, with no processing units per dataset.
According to NavVis documentation, NavVis IVION Processing works with volume-based packages of processing units. Those units are a shared metric: they are consumed by regular post-processing, but also by additional features such as Detection and Person Blurring. Packages range from small to very large, units are shared across the devices within a single account, and NavVis states that they are non-refundable and expire after a year. Data captured with a NavVis VLX or MLX requires a valid IVION Processing licence.
That model is predictable as long as your scanning volume is too. If it varies from quarter to quarter, or you need to blur a large area halfway through the year after all, planning becomes harder. With 360GEO you pay per processed dataset. There is no balance to buy up front, no balance that expires, and no separate budget for anonymisation: blurring of faces and number plates is part of the standard processing run.
NavVis IVION lets you export point clouds in common formats, including LAS, E57 with panoramas, PLY, PTS and XYZ. That openness is a real advantage, but it solves only half the problem: after the export you have files, and not yet an environment in which colleagues, clients and supply-chain partners can work with them.
That is exactly where 360GEO starts. We accept both the raw NavVis capture and an IVION export, georeference and structure the data, and publish it in your own GEORIZON tenant. Access management, an open API, WMTS for your GIS environment, single sign-on and an on-premises deployment are part of the platform rather than tied to the highest subscription tier. If you later move to a different scanner or supplier, your historical data simply stays where it is, in the same environment and the same structure.
Processing is fully automated. Point clouds from the NavVis MLX, VLX, CLX and the older M6 are denoised, coloured and optimised for fast display, while the panoramic images stay measurably linked to the point cloud. The dataset is georeferenced to your national or regional reference frame, so a scan of a station, tunnel or production hall lines up seamlessly with what was captured outside. The result is ready within 24 hours.
In the viewer you measure directly in the point cloud and the panoramas, place captures from different years side by side, and detect objects automatically for vectorisation into your asset register.
