NavVis Without IVION: Processing & Viewer

Two steps after recording: process and view

NavVis uses the name IVION for its browser platform and in the name of its cloud processing service. Processing turns device recordings into point clouds and panoramic images; the viewer gives people access to the result. These are separate roles in the workflow. With 360GEO, original VLX, MLX and CLX recordings can be processed directly and published in GEORIZON. You can therefore use your NavVis scanner without IVION for either processing or viewing.

What is NavVis IVION Processing?

NavVis IVION Processing is the cloud service used to turn original scanner recordings into processed data. This is the processing step, before the team uses the resulting point cloud and panoramic images.

360GEO provides an alternative to that step. We take the original VLX, MLX or CLX recordings directly, so you do not need to process them in IVION first. The work, required references and delivery are agreed for your dataset. Our processing page explains what to supply and how the work is arranged.

What is NavVis Desktop Processing?

NavVis Desktop Processing runs locally on a computer, rather than using the IVION cloud processing service. It is another route for turning device recordings into processed survey data.

When 360GEO processes your original recordings, you do not need to run Desktop Processing first either. The handover starts with the device data. We confirm what to send, carry out the agreed processing and prepare the output. This distinction matters when you want to outsource processing rather than operate the processing software yourself.

What is the IVION viewer?

The viewer is part of the NavVis IVION platform. It gives users browser access to spatial data, including point clouds and panoramic images. NavVis previously used the product name IndoorViewer.

GEORIZON provides its own environment for viewing, measuring and sharing processed NavVis data. Your team does not need the IVION viewer to access data published in GEORIZON. When comparing the platforms, check the tasks people need to perform, how access is managed and which connections to other software the project requires.

Where Core fits in

Core is a NavVis IVION subscription plan. It concerns the platform in which the team works with survey data; it should not be confused with the name of the processing service. For current features and commercial terms, use the NavVis plan information and your quotation.

Use your scanner without IVION

For a workflow through 360GEO, the recordings come directly from your VLX, MLX or CLX. We process them and publish the results in GEORIZON. Your team can then view, measure and share the survey without NavVis processing software or the IVION viewer.

Tell us which device you use, what the survey covers and what you need to deliver. We will establish the required input, processing scope and output. The scanner remains your capture device; processing and viewing take place outside the NavVis software platform.
